Purchases & payment — to sell and deliver digital products, we process your name, email address, billing information, and payment data via our payment provider.
Product delivery — to provide download access to purchased digital products (Field Guides), we process your email address and order details.
Customer communication — to respond to support requests, we process your email address and the content of your message.
Website security & functioning — server logs (e.g. IP address, browser type, timestamp) may be processed automatically by our hosting provider to ensure secure and stable operation of the site.
Newsletter  — if you subscribe, we process your email address to send updates. You may unsubscribe at any time.

3. Legal basis
We process your data based on:
Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR — performance of a contract (purchase, delivery of digital products)
Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR — legitimate interest (website security, basic analytics)
Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR — consent (e.g. newsletter, non-essential cookies)

4. Recipients of data
Data may be shared with service providers acting on our behalf, including:
Hosting provider — Squarespace
Payment provider — [e.g. Stripe]
Digital delivery / fulfillment provider — [name once chosen]
Email provider — IONOS
These providers are contractually bound to process data only as instructed and in compliance with the GDPR.

5. International data transfers
Where a service provider is located outside the EU/EEA (e.g. in the US), data transfer is safeguarded through appropriate mechanisms such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision, as applicable to that provider.

We retain personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes described above, or as required by statutory retention obligations (e.g. German commercial and tax law, typically 6–10 years for invoice-related data).
